W.O. Mitchell Elementary School · Silver Springs, NW Calgary
Our playground has reached the end of its life and comes down in July 2027. Together with Silver Springs and our NW Calgary neighbours, we're building a brand-new Blue Imp playground, opening September 2027.

Why now
Nearly 400 K–6 students in our Spanish bilingual school — and the whole Silver Springs community — need a safe place to play.
Our playground has been assessed as beyond its projected life expectancy — repairs keep getting costlier and parts are hard to source.
The current playground is scheduled for demolition in July 2027. We need the new one funded and ready to build that summer.
Alberta-based BDI Play Designs will supply a Blue Imp playground manufactured in Medicine Hat — design to installation, all local.
Silver Springs is home to 1,400+ kids aged 0–14. Evenings, weekends and summers, this playground belongs to everyone.
Before

After

A brand-new Blue Imp playground by Alberta's BDI Play Designs: a large composite structure, the Dream Weaver climber, swings, spinner and Wave Catchers, plus benches, fresh gravel and landscaped perimeter borders.
The conceptual design is in — the final layout gets confirmed as fundraising completes. Target opening: September 2027, in time for the 2027–2028 school year.
